Realtime Gaming is back with a new online slot release, and this time, they’re taking us into the depths of a Witches coven; expect to see lots of spells, potions and cauldrons as you play!

Witchy Wins is built around a 5-reel, 3-row format, and it uses a 243-ways-to-win mechanic, so you don’t need to worry about paylines. The game has an RTP coming in just above 96%, which I feel is great for a game from RTG – and, by all accounts, I feel as though they’ve actually done a pretty decent job with Witchy Wins!

In this Witchy Wins slot review I’m going to be walking you through how the game works, how you can play it for yourself – and I’ll be giving you my honest, impartial thoughts about it. To begin, I’m going to show you how to play – select your bet size and actually begin spinning – and, later on, we’ll be looking at the game’s bonuses and features, maximum wins, and more!

How To Play

Thanks to Realtime Gaming’s new user-interface, Witchy Wins is easier to play than ever – and I actually really like the way that the game is laid out; the user-interface is very user-friendly, easy-to-navigate and easy-to-use, and I feel as though they’ve taken quite a lot of inspiration from NetEnt in terms of design.

At the bottom of the screen you’ll see the game’s main “Spin” button – hitting this begins the next spin. In order to select your stake (the amount of money you want to bet on every spin), you simply need to use the plus and minus symbols on either side of the spin button to reach the stake you’re comfortable with. Your total bet is then displayed on the left-hand-side, clearly, and next to your total balance.

As you’d expect, Witchy Wins also comes with an autoplay function. This allows you to set up to 500 spins to play-out automatically without you needing to manually press the reels each time you want to spin. You also have the ability to set a loss/win limit, and the autoplay function can also be automatically disbaled upon hitting the main bonus round – something I strongly recommend to avoid you missing out on the action!

Symbols and Payouts

While Witchy Wins looks pretty good, I do feel as though Realtime Gaming could have put a little more effort into the game’s symbols. The lower-paying symbols are all represented by playing card values, including 10, jack, queen, king, and ace – and they look fairly bland, with nothing more than their actual value on display.

The higher-paying symbols in Witchy Wins include a combination of Witches and Cauldrons – appearing in a variety of colours. The three main Witches are coloured Green, Pink and Blue, and they’re the top-paying symbols in the game (bar the wilds, which I’ll cover in the next section of this review), awarding some decent payouts if you manage to form 5-of-a-kind combos.

Bonus Features

There are two main bonuses within Witchy Wins – one “proper” bonus, and one smaller bonus, both of which I’m going to talk about below.

Wilds Bonus

When you play Witchy Wins, you’ll notice that there are two different types of wild symbols on the reels; first, you’ve got the regular Cauldron Wilds, which act – well, as regular wilds. They substitute for all other symbols, aside from the game’s scatter symbols.

Now, you’ll also see Multiplier Cauldron Wilds – and these are what you’ll really want to be keeping an eye out for. These wilds can have multipliers of up to 4X attached to them when they land in view, and when they form part of a win, the multiplier in view is then applied against that win. The multiplier wilds appear both during the base-game, and the main bonus round, which I’ll talk about below.

Free Spins

As we’re used to seeing in the vast majority of Realtime Gaming’s slots, Witchy Wins’s main bonus round is delivered in the form of a free spins feature, and this is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Doing so awards you with 8, 15 and 50 free spins respectively; clearly, there’s a lot of value in hitting the 5 scatter trigger in the base-game, as 50 free spins all but guarantees you a decent payday!

During the free-spins bonus round, a slightly modified set of reels come into play. While these may not look any different – at first glance – they actually contain significantly more regular and multiplier wilds, making it easier to form wins.

Plus, on each spin, one reel will be transformed into a full wild reel – again, increasing your chances of hitting a win, and making it easier to land the alluring full screen of wilds, which, as you’ll see from the section below, can pay a whopping amount of money!

Jackpot and How To Win

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that it’s the free-spins bonus round where you’ll be able to unlock the full potential in Witchy Wins – and, according to Realtime Gaming, it’s possible to win as much as 10,000X your stake from a single spin.

Of course, actually hitting this maximum win is going to be pretty much impossible – but it’s nice to know the win-potential is there, and again, it’s another sign the software provider is catching up with the times and pushing out games that actually give their competitors a run for their money.

In order to hit the maximum win of 10,000X, you’ll need to hit a full screen of wild symbols – multiple times – so, as I said, it’s going to prove very difficult to do – but it is possible, and I think wins of 2-500X are actually perfectly feasible while playing Witchy Wins.

Software

Witchy Wins slot logo Realtime Gaming have been in the business a long time. But up until a couple of years ago, they had a pretty bad rep when it came to mobile gaming. A large number of their games were, until recently, still running on the now-defunct Flash technology – and while this didn’t make mobile gameplay impossible, it certainly didn’t help. What’s more, their old Flash-based titles were prone to lagging out, glitches and freezing – especially when your internet connection dipped, even just for a second.

Thankfully, Realtime Gaming has really stepped up their game recently, and, thanks to the fact that all of their new video slots are built using HTML5 technology, you can enjoy a smooth, crisp and relatively hassle-free gaming experience from all devices. When I was putting this Witchy Wins slot review together, I spent a good hour or two playing the game from my mobile devices – including an Android phone and an iPad – and I’m happy to report that I didn’t run into any significant issues while playing the game. You don’t need to download or install an app to play either, as it’s now browser-based, which, in my opinion, makes it all the more appealing.

I should also point out, for those readers who still prefer to play on desktop computers/laptops that Witchy Wins works just as well on desktop as it does on mobile. Again, you don’t need to download or install any software as it’s browser-based, and the gameplay is smooth, fast and crisp – credit to Realtime Gaming for sorting out their software finally and making games that are more in-line with what we’re seeing other game developers push out.

Summary

In the last year or two, I’ve seen Realtime Gaming really trying to step up their game; it’s clear they no longer want to be viewed as an “outsider” in the iGaming industry, and want to be taken seriously; because of this, we’ve started to see more creativity within their games, better graphics, and more attention to detail overall; whether their fresh new approach works out well for them or not remains to be seen, but it’s clear they’ve worked hard with Witchy Wins, and while it’s not perfect, it’s a fairly decent game.

I’ll be honest – it does remind me of another of the software provider’s popular games – Bubble Bubble 2 – and while I think the game mechanic is virtually identical, I do feel as though Witchy Wins offers enough variety and difference that there is a reason to play it.

I really like the wild feature; not only does this significantly enhance the game’s win-potential during the free-spins bonus round, but it also occurs during the base-game, which allows you to look forward to some big hits outside of the bonus, too. Plus, if you manage to turn enough of the reels wild, you can actually walk away with some pretty impressive-sized wins.

Where To Play Online Slot Machines On Mobile

I’m happy to see Witchy Wins has an RTP that comes in at slightly above 96% – good, for an RTG slot – and with a maximum win of 10,000X, Witchy Wins does appear to be delivering the same levels of win-potential we’ve started to see from other game developers.

On the whole, Witchy Wins is a great effort from Realtime Gaming – and while it’s not the most creative slot I’ve ever reviewed, I had quite a bit of fun playing it, and I think it’s evident that there is some fairly decent win-potential to be found, if you can unlock it!
