I’m sure you’re used to seeing Egyptian-inspired video slots in the online gambling world – and it seems that virtually all game developers have their own Egyptian themed slot. Eyecon are the latest software provider to add one to their collection, and their new game is called Temple of Iris – a 5-reel, 3-row video slot that can be played from as little as 0.01 credits per spin!

So in this Temple of Iris slot review, I’ll show you how to play the game and how it compares to other similar mobile slots.

The game is built around a 25-payline format, and while the graphics aren’t anything too amazing, the game does a decent job of delivering a fun playing experience – and, as you’ll see from this review, it offers some pretty decent win-potential too, especially for an Eyecon slot!

Let’s kick off this review with a look at how to play on your PC or mobile device.

How To Play

Like all Eyecon slots, Temple of Iris is incredibly easy-to-play and easy-to-use – and the first thing you’ll need to do, upon opening the game, is selecting the amount of money you wish to bet. This is done by adjusting the amount of money you’d like to stake per line – which varies between 0.01 and 0.50 credits. You will then see your total bet changing – and once you’ve found a bet-size you’re comfortable with, it’s simply a case of hitting the “spin” button and waiting for the game to play out.

There’s also an autoplay function built into Temple of Iris which allows you to set up to 100 spins to play-out automatically. This is useful for those times when you just want to sit back and relax, and don’t want to worry about having to manually press the spin button every game round.

Some online casinos may also allow you to activate the quickspin option – decreasing the amount of time between spins – but I should point out that due to new regulations brought in by the UK’s Gambling Commission this option is not available to UK-based players.

Symbols and Payouts

Temple of Iris is themed, as we just looked at, around Ancient Egypt – and all of the game’s symbols are, fittingly, designed around this theme. For example, you’ll see the Eye of Horus, a Ruby Scarab, a Gold Cobra Cane, an Ankh, and an Egyptian Cat making up the game’s higher-paying symbols.

These all pay pretty well, especially when you manage to form 4-of-a-kind or 5-of-a-kind combos – and you’ve also got the Priestess symbol which is the game’s top-paying symbol.

When it comes to the lower-paying symbols in Temple of Iris, Eyecon has decided to use playing card values, including 10, jack, queen, king, and ace to represent them. Unfortunately, these symbols don’t pay particularly well, offering up to just 20X your stake for forming a 5-of-a-kind combo.

Bonus Features

Like all of Eyecon’s slots, Temple of Iris comes with a few different bonuses and features, and below, I’m going to be walking you through what they are, and how they work.

Free Games

As is common in virtually all Eyecon slots, Temple of Iris comes with a free-spins bonus (known as Free Games, by the software provider), and this is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. Doing so will activate the bonus round, and you’ll then be awarded with 15 free games. The free-spins play-out at the same stake size as you were playing at within the game’s base-game.

Now, during the free games, a 3X multiplier becomes active, and this multiplier is applied to all wins – significantly increasing the slot’s win-potential and making it far easier to form bigger wins. I should also point out that the reel strips themselves actually change during the free games bonus, and this allows you a much greater chance of actually forming wins.

I should also point out that – again, like with most of Eyecon’s slots – it’s also possible to re-trigger the free-spins feature. This is achieved by landing another 3, 4, or 5 of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, and doing so will award a further 15 free games. It’s possible to win up to 300 free games in total, and re-triggers tend to happen quite frequently, so you can expect the bonus round to continue for quite some time, especially if luck’s on your side!

Gamble Feature

Another common feature found in many of Eyecon’s slots is the gamble function. This is present in Temple of Iris too (where casinos allow it), and it allows you the chance to try and double any wins you form – both in the base-game and the free games feature – by entering a double or nothing type of bonus.

If you choose to gamble wins, you’ll be taken to a new game screen where you simply need to guess the colour of the face-down playing card. If you guess correctly, you’ll double your win – if you guess incorrectly, you’ll lose your bet.

It’s possible to gamble five times in a row, or until you reach the maximum game win of 3,000,000 coins – whichever comes first.

Jackpot and How To Win

There’s a couple of different jackpots in play during Temple of Iris, and the first is the base-game jackpot which is worth a whopping 9,500X your stake! In order to trigger this jackpot, you’ll need to land a 5-of-a-kind combo (on an active payline) of the Iris Priestess symbols – and while, of course, it’s incredibly hard to achieve this, it’s nice to know the potential is there during the base-game!

As we just looked at, there’s also a fairly decent free-spins bonus round on offer, and during this bonus you can win a total of 3,000,000 coins – a relatively large amount of money, especially for an Eyecon game! To achieve this jackpot, you’ll need to once again form a 5-of-a-kind combo of the top-paying symbol, and thanks to the 3X multiplier on offer, this allows you to win almost 30,000X your total stake!

Software

Temple of Iris Slot Logo Eyecon is a developer whose games have, for many years, been regarded as industry-leading when it comes to mobile optimization, and in my opinion I feel that’s one of the reasons why their games are starting to be offered at more and more online casinos – they’re easy-to-play, they render well on all mobile devices, and the gameplay is smooth, crisp and uninterrupted.

When I was writing this Temple of Iris slot review, I spent a significant amount of time trying out and playing the game from my mobile devices – both an Android phone and an iOS tablet. As with all HTML5-based games, you don’t need to download or install any software or apps to begin playing, and I found that the game ran well regardless of whether I was playing on my 4G connection or WIFI.

Perhaps the only thing I would say about playing Temple of Iris on mobile devices is that you’ll probably want to tilt your device into landscape mode. This is due to the fact that the game just doesn’t render all that well in portrait mode – so I’d recommend doing so if you want to be able to experience the best-possible gameplay experience.

Summary

While I’m not the biggest fan of Eyecon slots in general (I do find that most of their games follow the same cookie-cutter structure), Temple of Iris is something quite refreshing from the software provider, and that’s large in part thanks to the great-looking graphics on offer and some fairly significant win-potential – win-potential which isn’t anywhere near as hard to unlock as you may find in other video slots.

Compare The Best Mobile Slot Games & Apps

I think the RTP comes in a little low at 95% – but it’s still better than many of the games I see released today, and it’s only a tad below the industry standard benchmark of 96% that we’ve become used to seeing.

I really like the fact that there’s two bonuses – both of which are capable of producing pretty impressive-sized wins – and best of all, actually triggering both of these bonuses seems relatively easy, when compared against other slots today.
