Twin Spin Megaways is a landmark moment for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s NetEnt’s first Megaways slot (or, at least, the first that they haven’t developed in conjunction with Red Tiger Gaming), and it’s also the highly-anticipated sequel (round two) to the infamous “Twin Spin” slot, that’s remained one of the industry’s most successful releases in history.

In this Twin Spin Megaways slot review, I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about how to play the game on desktop or on any mobile slot app or site. You’ll learn about the game symbols, the bonus features and how to trigger them.

I’ll also show you how I landed two MASSIVE WINS while testing the game!

Twin Spin Megaways is incredibly well-made, and I feel that NetEnt has really upped their game here. It looks as though they’ve really started to take their players’ feedback on board – and in this new sequel, we see the addition of a free spin’s bonus, wild multipliers, and – of course – the classic “Twin Reels” mechanic we’ve become used to seeing within the original game.

Thanks to Big Time Gaming’s mechanic, Twin Spin Megaways offers up to 117,649-ways-to-win on each spin – and the slot has a total of 6 reels. Each spin can display up to 7 rows – and if each reel has 7 rows, well, that’s when the full 117,649-ways-to-win will be activated. Twin Spin Megaways has a fixed RTP of 96.04%, and you can spin the reels from between 0.10 and 200 credits per spin – ensuring players on all budgets can “get in” on the action.

How To Play

Twin Spin Megaways is super easy to play – like most NetEnt slots – and to get started, all you need to do is select how much you want to bet per spin, and hit the giant “Spin” button.

Unlike other Megaways slots from NetEnt, Twin Spin Megaways actually uses NetEnt’s user-interface as opposed to Red Tiger Gaming’s one – and this means it’s far-easier to navigate your way around. I should also point out that there’s an auto play function on offer – allowing you to set up to 100 spins to play automatically.

There’s also the usual volume toggle (on/off) along with some other in-game options. Finally, you’ll find a detailed paytable, where you can learn more about Twin Spin Megaways, the payouts – and information about the game’s bonuses and features.

Symbols and Payouts

Twin Spin Megaways uses the same symbols as the original game – and this means you’ll find the lower-paying symbols represented by playing card values, including 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace.

These actually pay quite well – and if you manage to line up enough of them in a winning combo, you can get some nice returns. This win came from the base game, without needing any of the bonus features.

The game’s higher-paying symbols include Cherries, Bells, Bars, Sevens, and Diamonds – and, like the original, it’s the Diamond symbols that are the game’s best-paying, awarding a payout worth 10X for lining up a 6-of-a-kind combo.

Bonus Features

There’s tons going on in Twin Spin Megaways when it comes to bonuses and features – and this is even more apparent when comparing it against the original Twin Spin. Below, I’m going to be covering what these bonuses and features are – and what you can expect when you trigger any of them for yourself.

Avalanche Feature

This is something we’ve become pretty used to seeing in Megaways slots – and it’s a mechanic that was first popularised by Big Time Gaming in games like Bonanza.

It’s present here in Twin Spin Megaways too, and each time you get a win, the feature is triggered; this sees any symbols that make up the winning combinations disappear off the reels, and new symbols then drop down to take their place. This process continues – with new symbols appearing to fill the empty gaps – for as long as wins are formed!

Twin Reels

Twin Reels is the mechanic that the original Twin Spin made famous – and today, we’re seeing it make an appearance in slots from tens of game developers, proving that it goes down well with players. At the beginning of each spin – both in the base game, and in the free spins feature – this feature can be randomly triggered.

Once activated, between two and all six reels become “linked”, and when they land, they all display the same symbols. Naturally, if you manage to get all six reels synced together – and a decent amount of Megaways – you can expect to hit some massive wins!

Free Spins

The biggest new inclusion in Twin Spin Megaways is arguably the Free Spins bonus – something that was definitely lacking in the original NetEnt release. In order to trigger the Free Spins bonus, you’ll need to land five or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in view, and doing so will award you with 15 free spins.

Any additional scatter symbols that land awards you one additional free spin – and it’s possible to start with quite a high number of spins, especially if you manage to land enough of the scatter symbols in view!

Now, during the free spins, there are two major benefits to look out for; first of all, the reels are maxed out at the full 117,649-ways-to-win – massively increasing your chances of hitting a big win. What’s more, there are now wild multipliers that come into play, and these can be worth 2X or 3X. When one of these wild symbols lands in view, they multiply the win by the multiplier on it – and, even better, the wild multipliers multiply against one another – so if you can land two or three, you stand the chance of forming some mega wins!

It’s also possible to re-trigger the feature – something I always like to see – and this is achieved by landing another five scatter symbols in view. Doing so awards an additional 15 Free Spins, with one extra free spin awarded for any additional scatter symbols that land in view.

Jackpot and How To Win

Like many Megaways slots, Twin Spin Megaways doesn’t have a “maximum win”, per-se. That means that it’s theoretically possible to win an unlimited amount of money – and an unlimited “X stake” win on each spin. However, I should point out that just because NetEnt hasn’t incorporated a maximum win themselves doesn’t mean you can just win an unlimited amount of money.

This is the return I got from the 15 free spins feature that I showed you earlier. A very pleasing result. It’s rare for me to get two big wins just while I’m testing a game for a slot review, but I definitely struck it lucky this time.

All online and mobile casinos – big and small – implement win caps, and this is usually £250,000 – or currency equivalent. Still, that’s an insane amount of money – and, playing Twin Spin Megaways, it’s going to be incredibly unlikely that you’ll run into any issues hitting the maximum win!

Software

Twin Spin Megaways logo Like all of NetEnt’s games (at least, those released in the last 5-6 years) Twin Spin Megaways offers excellent gameplay – regardless of the type of device you’re playing from.

For the purpose of this Twin Spin Megaways review, I decided to look at how the game rendered from my iOS and Android mobile devices – and I can confidently say I wasn’t left disappointed. The slot rendered really well, and I didn’t run into any issues selecting my bet size, choosing to toggle the autoplay function on/off or playing in general.

What’s more, thanks to NetEnt’s “One Touch” mechanic, it’s not even necessary to tilt your device into landscape mode in order to play. Read virtually any of the video slot reviews on this site and you’ll notice that the one thing they all have in common is that I recommend – when playing from a mobile device – tilting the device into landscape mode.

NetEnt, however, are one of the few software providers where I don’t necessarily recommend this – and the game renders just as well in portrait mode as it does in landscape mode!

Summary

NetEnt’s older Twin Spin Sequel – Twin Spin Deluxe – failed to leave much of an impression on the industry, with most, completely forgetting the game even existed just a few weeks after the game’s initial launch. In fairness – and it’s not just me saying this – the game lacked the “enjoyment factor” that’s so necessary in today’s fast-paced iGaming industry. However, Twin Spin Megaways looks set to change that – and it’s the complete opposite of Twin Spin Deluxe.

Twin Spin Megaways offers some of the most fun-filled gameplay we’ve seen in a NetEnt slot for quite some time. Thanks to the fact that it utilises Big Time Gaming’s Megaways mechanic, it offers tremendous win-potential in both the base game and the bonus round.

I love the fact that there are so many new bonuses and features – a welcome addition in my opinion – and while they can be somewhat hard to trigger, when they do land, they can typically pay relatively well.

The Free Spins bonus is what Twin Spin Megaways is all about – and again, while it’s pretty hard to trigger – the fact that Megaways (up to 117,649-ways-to-win active on each spin) is combined with multiplying wilds can lead to some mega win-potential – far greater than we’re used to seeing in slots, particularly those coming from NetEnt’s development labs.

I expect Twin Spin Megaways to be a roaring success with players – and from what I’ve seen, it’s already proving pretty popular, getting good gameplay from streamers, and making its way to the “Top Games” section of many online casinos. An excellent offering from NetEnt, and a refreshing (and well-needed change) we haven’t seen in quite some time.
